A month has passed since the launch of an All-Ukrainian program of free exchange of incandescent light bulbs, implemented by the Government and the EU. During this period, more than 2 million citizens have taken advantage of the program and exchanged 10 million old incandescent bulbs for new energy-saving LED lamps at Ukrposhta offices.

“Saving electricity is an opportunity that Ukraine should use to fight on the energy front. I am pleased that Ukrainians have responded to Government’s proposal to replace outdated light bulbs with new LED lamps, which save 8 times more energy. Thanks to Ukrposhta, the program is gradually expanding its geography and becoming available in small towns and villages, as our goal is to replace 50 million lamps across the country,” commented Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

As of March 3, the number of exchanged lamps in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions has passed the 1 million mark, in Lviv region – 840,000, in Kharkiv region – 610,000, in Odesa region – 600,000, in Vinnytsia region – 590,000 exchanged lamps.

As a reminder, the lamp exchange program started on January 30 in regional centers and in Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, and Kryvyi Rih. Later, the program was expanded to other cities and towns across the country, except for the territories occupied by the enemy. Since February 25, villages have been included in the program, where residents can exchange 5 old incandescent light bulbs for the same number of LEDs at Ukrposhta’s stationary offices and mobile post offices. Currently, the lamps can be exchanged in 23,000 settlements of Ukraine.

As part of the European Union’s support program for the Ukrainian energy front, Ukraine is to be provided with 35 million LED lamps. Another 5 million lamps were financed by France, which also joined the project. So far, Ukraine has received about 20 million LEDs, which are evenly distributed throughout the country.

Ukrainians can apply for an exchange of old incandescent light bulbs for energy-saving LED lamps in Diia app and then receive them at one of the Ukrposhta branches. One can also exchange lamps at Ukrposhta branches without prior registration in the app. However, in this case the lamps will be exchanged subject to availability.

It should be noted that residents of villages with a population of less than 2,000 people can exchange lamps at Ukrposhta offices without prior registration in Diia.

The lamp exchange program is implemented by the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and Ukrposhta with the support of the European Union.
