The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated funds for the construction of fortifications in the regions where hostilities are ongoing. More than UAH 3.8 billion will be allocated from the state budget reserve fund to regional military administrations involved in the construction of defence structures. The Government made the decision at a meeting on 12 April.
“We are systematically working to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities. The UAH 3.8 billion allocated today will allow us to additionally finance the construction of fortifications in important areas. We have a clear plan, and all the necessary resources, including those of the rear regions, have been mobilised to implement it. The Government, in turn, responds promptly to requests from the Ministry of Defence regarding the need for ongoing funding. Since the beginning of this year alone, taking into account the current decision, the Government has allocated about UAH 29.4 billion from the state budget reserve fund for the construction of fortifications. And, of course, this is not the final amount – funds will continue to be allocated. There is a clear task of the President of Ukraine – the Supreme Commander-in-Chief – to ensure maximum strengthening of defence capabilities in key areas. And it is being fulfilled,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
As a reminder, on 2 April 2024, the Government allocated UAH 5.6 billion from the state budget reserve fund for the construction of fortifications in Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
The decision adopted by the Government on 19 January 2024 allocated UAH 17.448 billion for the fortifications.
On 12 January 2024, the Government allocated UAH 2.49 billion for the construction of fortifications.
