The state fulfills its social obligations and will continue to do so, emphasized Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government said that from March 1, a pension for more than 10 million Ukrainians would be indexed by 14%. The relevant decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers at a regular meeting on February 16.
"Indexation will apply to Ukrainians who receive insurance pensions. And also for the first time under the new principle we increase pensions for the military", noted Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, starting from March 1, a supplement will be set for people who are not eligible for indexation, as their pensions have been granted for the last three years. Surcharges for Ukrainian seniors aged over 75 will also be indexed by 14%.
"In addition, we index pension payments to some categories of citizens in advance. According to the decision of the Government, the so-called social pensions which should have increased only in December this year due to the increase in the subsistence level will be indexed now," the Head of Government stressed.
Denys Shmyhal also reminded that the day before the Verkhovna Rada had passed a Government bill that eliminates the discrediting norm, according to which servicemen, scientists, civil servants and other categories of Ukrainian citizens were not eligible for annual indexation. Pensions will now be recalculated annually on March 1. According to the Prime Minister, this will guarantee the sustainability of pension provision.
