Denys Shmyhal: Our unity is our best weapon

On the Day of Unity, we demonstrate our friends and our enemies that Ukraine is united, that our people are united in their readiness to defend the Motherland, freedom and independence. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized during a Government meeting on February 16.

"The Day of Unity is not about politics, not about power. This is exceptionally about the state. Today, Ukrainians have rejected their differences and are uniting in the face of possible threats. For the sake of a successful future. We know how to do it, and our unity is our best weapon," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government stressed that the Ukrainian army was stronger than ever. According to him, this year the budget contains unprecedented funding for the security and defense sector, programs for financing the army and modernization of armaments were significantly increased. At the initiative of the President, the Government in synergy with the Verkhovna Rada plans to raise payments to the Armed Forces by 30% in March. Funding for the territorial defense system will also be fully provided.

"We have a large state, a strong army and an indomitable spirit. We want to live and prosper peacefully on our land and we will not allow anyone to encroach on our European, democratic and free future. We believe in our Armed Forces, our state stands ready for any challenge," said the Prime Minister.

Denys Shmyhal called on everyone to join the celebration of the Day of Unity to show the indomitable Ukrainian spirit to the entire world.
