Yulia Svyrydenko: Government begins systematic overhaul of the energy sector and key state bodies

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko announced that, during a meeting with the President of Ukraine, a plan was agreed for a comprehensive overhaul of the energy sector and a number of key state institutions responsible for its stability.

“Piecemeal solutions are not enough. We must act systematically and simultaneously across all areas of the energy sector,” emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.

Following the meeting, the Government is preparing decisions to update the operations and management of the following bodies:

  • National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities;
  • State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate;
  • State Energy Supervision Inspectorate;
  • State Property Fund.

Special attention was given to the Asset Recovery and Management Agency. The Prime Minister reported that the Government awaits a response regarding employees mentioned in NABU materials.

“I have instructed an internal review to be conducted and appropriate personnel decisions to be taken. The overhaul must be systematic. We will provide updates on further steps,” stressed Yulia Svyrydenko.
