Yulia Svyrydenko: Ukraine has received nearly USD 600 million from the IBRD for social payments to the most vulnerable groups of citizens

The State Budget of Ukraine has received nearly USD 600 million to finance social payments for the most vulnerable groups of citizens. The Government has fulfilled all necessary conditions to receive funding under the SPIRIT project, a joint initiative with the World Bank. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

The funding includes USD 300 million backed by Japanese guarantees, as well as USD 298.75 million backed by bilateral guarantees from the Government of the United Kingdom. The total value of the SPIRIT project amounts to USD 880 million.

 The project will benefit over 1 million Ukrainians in need of social support.

“Funding under the project will cover 18 types of social benefits, including assistance for families with children, children with serious illnesses, orphans living in family-type children’s homes and foster families, people with disabilities, large families, payment for the “municipal nanny” service, child care assistance until the child reaches one year of age, the eYasla program, as well as other social support programs funded from the state budget and not related to military purposes,” the Prime Minister stated.
