Yulia Svyrydenko: We are launching an audit of subsoil users at strategic deposits
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko announced that she has tasked the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture and the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine with conducting a comprehensive audit of all subsoil users who have obtained permits for strategically important deposits.
“We plan to verify who is actually operating and who is holding licenses without extraction. Such assets must either produce results or be returned to auction for responsible investors,” emphasised the Head of Government.
Additionally, it has been decided to relaunch competitions for the distribution of hydrocarbons at the Mezhyhirska and Svichanska sites.
Updated competition conditions now include:
- The right for a U.S. partner to purchase the output;
- A guarantee that other participants will not be offered more favourable terms.
According to the Prime Minister, this aligns with the provisions of the U.S.-Ukraine agreement on the establishment of the Reconstruction Investment Fund.
“Our natural resources must work for Ukraine’s economy,” underscored Yulia Svyrydenko.
