Yulia Svyrydenko held working meeting with Prime Minister of Portugal Luís Montenegro
Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko held a working meeting with Prime Minister of Portugal Luís Montenegro, to discuss key areas of bilateral cooperation, including defense, economy, and energy security.
“Portugal’s defense assistance — including through PURL and SAFE — is critically important for strengthening our resilience. Together with the Prime Minister, we discussed the Build in Ukraine and Build with Ukraine defense initiatives, where our countries have strong potential for cooperation, including joint drone production,” Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized.
At the meeting, the Prime Minister of Portugal announced the first contribution to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine in the amount of EUR 600,000.
In the context of preparations for the next Ukraine Recovery Conference the parties agreed to work on the conclusion of an intergovernmental (G2G) agreement that shall facilitate the entry of Portuguese businesses and investment to the Ukrainian market.
Yulia Svyrydenko reiterated to the Prime Minister that Ukraine is grateful for the decision of the EU leadership to provide EUR 90 billion of support for two years.
The Head of Government also thanked Portugal for for its support of Ukraine since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion and for their warm reception of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes because of the invasion.
