Yulia Svyrydenko: During a trip to Uzhhorod, we focused on the functioning of the healthcare system and the implementation of Government programs
During a working visit to Uzhhorod, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko familiarized herself with the functioning of the region’s healthcare system and the implementation of key Government programs in the healthcare sector.
The Head of Government visited one of the clinics in Zakarpattia region to see how the free screening program for citizens aged 40 and older operates. Over 215,000 Ukrainians have already joined the program, and payments totaling UAH 430 million have been made. Screenings are available at nearly 2,000 service locations—in municipal, state, and private medical facilities. Invitations continue to be sent through the Diia platform.
The Prime Minister also held a meeting with primary care and emergency medical care physicians. Participants discussed the effectiveness of Government policies and programs. “In 2026, the Government increased funding for emergency care: the capitation rate rose, and as a result, the average salary for emergency room doctors is now UAH 38,000,” she emphasized.
Special attention was given to the development of rural healthcare. Thanks to additional funding coefficients, access to medical services in remote and mountainous communities is expanding. Support programs for young doctors continue, including a “starting grant” of UAH 200,000 after internships, as well as programs providing staff housing.
The issue of fuel supplies for emergency medical services amid rising global oil prices was also discussed. According to Yulia Svyrydenko, prices are currently showing a gradual decline.
“We are also preparing hospitals for winter as part of the Resilience Plans. More than 250 medical facilities have already installed solar panels under the Ray of Hope program and as part of a joint project with the World Bank, and another 300 or so will receive them by the end of the year,” the Prime Minister concluded, thanking healthcare workers for their daily efforts.
