Yulia Svyrydenko: Energy and social sustainability of communities is the focus of Government
During a meeting with the heads of regional military administrations, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko discussed the issues of energy and social sustainability of communities.
Energy sustainability
According to the Head of the Government, they analysed what regions need quick energy recovery, including heat packages for people with disabilities and single pensioners. So far, over 50,000 packages have been handed out across all regions, with special attention given to frontline regions and areas with complicated energy supply.
Additional programs to support communities and ensure the energy independence of condominiums and apartment buildings were also considered.
“We are preparing appropriate government programs. It is the responsibility of the regions to provide all critical infrastructure facilities with backup power sources and fuel reserves,” emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.
Salary increase for teachers
Starting January 1 this year, teachers will receive a 30% salary increase. Teaching staff have already received their first improved payments for January since the beginning of February.
School meals
Starting in September, students in grades 1–11 shall receive free meals throughout the country. The state budget has allocated UAH 14.4 million for this program. Separate funding has been disbursed for the modernization of school cafeterias so that children receive not only free meals, but also high-quality meals.
The Prime Minister stressed that the Government expects the RMAs and local authorities to establish processes for organizing hot meals with the involvement of local businesses.
Shelter
Yulia Svyrydenko reported that UAH 5 billion had been allocated for shelters for schools and UAH 1 billion for underground kindergartens, primarily in frontline areas. “We must create safe conditions for offline or mixed learning for Ukrainian children. Regional military administrations must monitor the timely implementation of construction plans,” the Head of Government stressed.
Screening 40+
Registration for screening for people over 40 years of age is ongoing. Since its launch, more than 30,000 Ukrainians have already registered for the examination, of which 22,000 have received funds to their Dіi.Card to undergo the examination. Medical institutions across the country are actively participating in the program: nearly 1,000 institutions have submitted applications, 937 institutions have been verified by the Ministry of Health and are ready to accept citizens.
Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized: “The main goal of the program is to provide the opportunity to undergo a free initial health check. Screening helps to identify the risks of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and mental health disorders at an early stage.”
