Today, January 24, 2022, the European Commission announced the allocation of additional financial support package to Ukraine by launching a new emergency program of macro-financial assistance of EUR 1.2 billion. The first tranche of such assistance will amount to EUR 600 million. The decision of the European Commission must be adopted by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.

"We are grateful to our partners in the European Union for their support of Ukraine, which will help ensure macro-financial stability. The decision to launch a new EU emergency macro-financial assistance package is another evidence of the high level of strategic partnership with the EU, as well as trust in our country and effective cooperation in recent years," said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko.

EU macro-financial assistance will be used to maintain financial stability in Ukraine.

In addition, according to the above-mentioned decision of the European Commission, in 2022 the EU should provide additional grant resources in the amount of EUR 120 million to support reforms and public policy in key areas.

It should be noted that on October 25, 2021, Ukraine received the 2nd tranche from the European Union under the 5th EU macro-financial assistance program with a nominal amount of EUR 600 million.

The total amount of preferential EU credit assistance received by Ukraine in the framework of five macro-financial assistance programs during 2014-2021 reached more than EUR 5 billion.
