Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, met with representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Oleksii Kuleba emphasised the need to continue joint projects and the sustainability of cooperation.

“Everything we do is for people and for the sake of people. A special focus is on Ukrainians affected by the russian invasion. All our joint projects also remain unchanged. We thank the European Bank for supporting our initiatives and look forward to further cooperation,” he said.

Oleksii Kuleba also drew the attention of foreign partners to the need to rebuild the water supply infrastructure between Nova Odesa and Mykolaiv.

In addition to the projects that are already being successfully implemented, additional attention was paid to promising areas of cooperation, such as the renewal of the electric train fleet, financing the development of cogeneration and the restoration of the Ukrposhta postal network.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, together with the EBRD, plans to implement an investment project to upgrade its electric locomotive fleet with a loan from the EBRD under a state guarantee of up to EUR 300 million.

In addition, Ukrzaliznytsia is experiencing a significant shortage of electricity, which will worsen in the winter, so there is a need to finance the construction of gas-fired power plants in different regions of Ukraine.

For its part, Ukrposhta plans to implement a project with the EBRD to rebuild its postal network. The preliminary cost of the project is EUR 104 million.
