Vice Prime Minister Viacheslav Kyrylenko, during a working visit to Cherkasy region, checked the start of the reform of secondary education in the region, in particular the introduction of the concept "New Ukrainian School" (NUS). The Vice Prime Minister visited several educational institutions of Cherkasy region. The top official got familiarized with the facilities and resources of the innovative secondary school in the village of Palmyra within the responsibilities of the Zolotonosha District Council - modern classes of mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, and the LEGO class.
Viacheslav Kyrylenko also checked the educational space of gymnasium named after S.D. Skliarenko in the city of Zolotonosha of Cherkasy region, where all the necessary conditions for education had been created as well.
In Cherkasy, Viacheslav Kyrylenko got acquainted with the educational space of gymnasium №9 named after O. M. Lutsenko. This educational institution also uses an innovative facilities and resources - interactive and information technologies, LEGO robotics sets. In this gymnasium there has been introduced a gender-segregated education (classes of cadets and ladies - boys and girls master the learning material separately).
During a working visit to Cherkasy, Viacheslav Kyrylenko held a meeting with educators on reforming general secondary education in Cherkasy region. Among the topics discussed were the Government's priorities for further development of the educational sector. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of General Secondary and Preschool Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Department of Education and Science of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration.
It should be noted that in 2018, to ensure the implementation of the project The New Ukrainian School in Cherkasy region a subvention from the state budget totalling UAH43.6 million was provided. First-graders of all general secondary education institutions of the region have been provided with sets of LEGO Six bricks, which are freely distributed within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the The LEGO Foundation and within the framework of the project "Promoting Education".
