The Cabinet of Ministers, from the first days of its activity, has adopted decisions that allow raising the wages of educators, and today, July 10, it has approved a number of decisions that enable to systematically raise wages for educators and correct the disparities that affected certain categories of teachers who did not receive allowances and increases.
Thus, in 2017-2018, the salaries of school teachers grew by 75% in total and continue to grow this year as well, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said.
"And today we will correct the injustice towards those categories of educators who have not received a 10% increase from January 2019. In particular, this applies to pre-school, out-of-school employees, and vocational training employees", stressed Volodymyr Groysman.
The Head of Government accentuated that the correction of wage disparities in the future will take place at the system level. This is critical not only to enhance the status of an educator and teacher but also to ensure that after graduation young specialists go to work to kindergarten or continue to train skilled workers.
"It will not be within the framework of a unified tariff system. We offer a new system. From January 2020, teachers will receive salary increases from 20 to 70%. The special emphasis is placed on supporting young teachers", said Volodymyr Groysman. "It will be fair and relevant."
The Head of Government explained that young teacher, who today gets wage about UAH 5,400 a month with all the allowances will receive more than UAH 7,643 – a 41.3% increase. Teacher with experience will receive UAH 10,500 or more from January 2020.
For kindergarten employees, not only the salary will increase, but also the leave will be extended up to 56 calendar days from January 2020.
