In line with the norms of Ukrainian laws, the issues of expanding a network of hospitals and clinics fall within the authority of local power bodies of all levels, and nothing stops them from the construction of new outpatient clinics, wards and operating units, stated Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.
"Who owns polyclinics, hospitals? Local authorities to whom we have devolved powers and resources. What prevents them from equipping a ward, operating unit? Nothing!" urges Volodymyr Groysman.
He emphasized that the Government, for its part, does a lot to change the situation in the healthcare sector.
"They say that the hospitals are now in a terrible state. And it's true. But let's say also that this occurred as a result of an inept policy of the past times, when healthcare sector was nobody’s concern. But what was of great concern was control over the purchase of medicines – and this is billions, and the second position is to buy equipment and to steal 30-50% of the cost at that", said the Head of Government. "Ulana Suprun took the office and began to destroy those schemes. And we, as the Government, chose the path of transformation of the healthcare system."
The Prime Minister gave examples of executed projects for the construction of new hospitals, the implementation of programs, first of all, The Available Medicines.
"Further I will focus on raising the wages of doctors", said Volodymyr Groysman. "We will also present a program of support and development of an emergency medicine."
