Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman commissioned the local leaders to protect the households and residents from unreasonable charges for gas - higher than the established norms - and create decent conditions for people at special offices they attend to pay for the resources and conclude contracts with service providers. This was stated by the Head of Government during a conference call devoted to issues of tariff setting for heat and hot water services.

The PM reminded that for the households without meters installed, the Government set the norm of consumption 3.29 cubic meters of gas. However, district heating providers inflate severalfold the fixed norm. "People are agitated not without reason", said Volodymyr Groysman. "We pursue a zero tolerance policy to inflating the norms and cheating people. In every community, the leader should protect the people who are assigned for payment bills containing inflated norms on illegal grounds. One must pay in line with the justified norms. I appeal to city mayors - just protect the members of your communities. This is not their business, it’s yours. Just demonstrate your efficiency as the authorities."

He also emphasized that customer service centers should be adequately equipped. "I request to focus on this issue. We work for people’s benefits and it is fundamentally important."

According to the Head of Government, each local leader should, among other things, take care of at least four issues - energy modernization and energy saving, consumption accounting, protection of consumers from overpriced bills and payment terms.
