Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka paid a working visit to Hungary
On September 11, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka held talks with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó and Minister of European Union Affairs János Bóka during his working visit to Budapest.
The main purpose was to discuss topical issues on the bilateral agenda, in particular the further European integration of Ukraine and energy issues.
The Deputy Prime Minister also visited one of Hungary's largest agro-industrial farms and paid tribute to the memory of Hungarians illegally deported to the USSR.
Key outcomes of the visit:
- potential for expanding cooperation in the energy sector was discussed, including the participation of Hungarian companies in the modernization of Ukraine's energy infrastructure;
- Ukraine's readiness to take into account the interests of the Hungarian national community and to begin expert consultations on improving national legislation in this area was emphasized;
- emphasis on bilateral cooperation was: the launch of the Uzhhorod-Budapest railway communication, and educational and social programs for Ukrainian children and students;
- parties agreed to hold a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Hungarian Commission on Economic Cooperation in the near future.
Special attention was paid to Ukraine's negotiation process with the EU and the search for mutually acceptable solutions for opening Cluster 1: Fundamentals.
The Hungarian side welcomed the resumption of political contacts and reiterated its support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The parties agreed to continue bilateral dialogue.
