  • Iryna Vereshchuk holds working meeting with Norwegian Refugee Council

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk held a working meeting with the Norwegian Refugee Council delegation led by NRC Secretary General Jan Egeland. He assured that his organisation would continue its efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians affected by the war.

The meeting was attended by the heads of NRC in Ukraine and Central and Eastern Europe.

Participants discussed humanitarian challenges, particularly in the de-occupied territories.

It is known that 963 settlements in Ukraine are currently de-occupied. The Norwegian side pledged to provide repair kits for housing reconstruction, power generators, heating equipment, charging stations, power banks and computer equipment for online education for children. It has also set up heating stations and provided these areas with Starlink satellite internet terminals.

In addition, people from the liberated settlements and evacuees will receive one-off financial assistance.

The parties also discussed the need to create adequate conditions in temporary accommodation sites for IDPs across Ukraine to ensure a successful autumn-winter period in 2023-2024.

In order to support IDPs during the winter, it is planned to set up temporary accommodation facilities and carry out necessary repairs. In addition, IDPs will be provided with warm blankets, generators, heaters, charging stations, etc.

The parties also discussed NRC’s participation in the Prykhystok programme.
