During a visit to Hungary, Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval, held a meeting with Hungary’s Minister of Agriculture, István Nagy.

The meeting was also attended by Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Hungary, Fedir Shandor.

The parties discussed a topic of great importance to both countries — the future of the free trade agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

Vitalii Koval emphasised that Ukrainian farmers are not a threat but a reliable partner to the European market. Ukrainian farmers operate under the extremely challenging conditions of war but continue to ensure food security for Ukraine and the world.

“We respect the EU countries’ desire to protect the interests of their agricultural producers, but we also expect an honest dialogue and a long-term solution that takes into account the interests of Ukrainian farmers. Ukraine is part of the European economic space. Therefore, we continue to make the case to our European partners that our farmers deserve predictable trade rules,” Vitalii Koval stressed.
