Almost 5,500 hectares of land to become part of the protected areas of Bukovyna

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a change in the target utilization of state-owned land plots in the Vyzhnytsia district of Chernivtsi region. They will be transferred from the category of forestry land to the lands of nature reserves and other environmental protection purposes.

"These lands will be transferred to the Cheremosky National Nature Park for permanent use to preserve the most remote and pristine areas in Ukraine. It is here that the old-growth forests with rich biodiversity - brown bears, lynxes, roes, wolves, wild boars, as well as the rarest species of the world's flora, such as the Carpathian black buttercup - have been preserved," said Svitlana Grynchuk, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

According to her, last year, more than 10,200 hectares of land were transferred to our Parks - Podilski Tovtry, Dniester Canyon, Nobelsky, Nyzhniosulsky, and Karmelyukove Podillya - for permanent use.

"By the end of this year, we plan similar measures to transfer almost 14,000 hectares to the national parks of Vyzhnytsia, Karmeliukove Podillia and Verkhovyna. So we continue to work on establishing the status of protected areas on valuable Ukrainian lands. After all, these are the natural resources that we must preserve for future generations of Ukrainians," announced Svitlana Grynchuk.
