The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the allocation of fire protection subventions for general secondary education institutions, including military lyceums.

Funding is provided for 710 facilities, but the final list will be determined by regional military administrations and the city of Kyiv. Priority will be given to those projects that already have ready-made design and estimate documentation and the highest percentage of co-financing from the local budget.

The calculation of the subvention takes into account the project capacity:

  • 693 schools participating in the pilot project to strengthen security;
  • 17 military, naval, and military sports lyceums.

The funds will be allocated to the Kyiv city budget and local budgets of 21 regions: Vinnytsia, Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv regions.

Earlier, in February 2025, the Government allocated the first part of the subvention for fire protection to the regional and Kyiv city military administrations in the amount of UAH 227.5 million. Now the Government is allocating the second part of the funds - UAH 272.5 million.

This year, for the first time, UAH 500 million has been allocated specifically for fire protection in schools. This is part of a broader policy of creating a safe educational environment. Among other areas:

  • UAH 6.2 billion for the construction of shelters;
  • UAH 1.6 billion for the purchase of school buses.

In addition, educational security officers are already working in more than 1,500 schools. Almost 200 more are undergoing training.
