Due to the significant spread of COVID-19 in certain areas, all administrative-territorial units are classified as regions with a red level of epidemic danger. Among those are: Horodenkiv and Kosiv districts of Ivano-Frankivsk region, Sambir city of Lviv region, Bilyaivka city of Odessa region, Dubno city, Kostopil and Rivne districts of Rivne region, Kitsman district of Chernivtsi region. Restrictions will apply from August 17.
This decision was made by the Central Commission for Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies at a meeting on August 13. Minister of Health of Ukraine Maxym Stepanov announced at a briefing following the meeting.
Based on the available epidemic data as of August 12, the list of regions with a significant spread of COVID-19 includes Kyiv, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Odesa, Rivne, Ternopil, Kharkiv and Chernivtsi regions.
"That is, these are the areas which are characterized with exceedance of the limit regarding confirming new cases of the infection throughout the territory - 40 per 100,000 population in 14 days," the Minister said.
Different levels of danger have been identified in these regions depending on the epidemiological situation. For example, in Lviv region, due to the fact that for 5 days in a row the bed occupancy rate was more than 50 percent, an "orange level" was set. Kyiv is classified as a yellow epidemic danger category in terms of the incidence of COVID-19 in 14 days per 100,000 population.
