Two additional transit centres to open for evacuation: Ministry for Communities and Territories Development

On 19 August, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service, heads of regional military administrations, and community representatives worked at one of the key evacuation transit points in Pavlohrad.

Due to intensified shelling, the load on this transit point has significantly increased. Approximately 400 people from Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk regions, and adjacent areas are received daily. Evacuees are provided with financial, humanitarian, and medical assistance, legal and psychological consultations, as well as support with housing, documentation, and travel tickets. The operations are supported by regional and local authorities, along with numerous volunteer and humanitarian organisations.

At the time of the visit, 110 individuals were at the centre, with an additional 160 evacuees arriving during the delegation’s work. Some immediately departed for Lviv, Kirovohrad, and Kyiv regions.

To ease the pressure on Pavlohrad, a transit centre is already operational in Lozova, Kharkiv region, and another will begin functioning this week in Voloske, Dnipropetrovsk region. In Kyiv and Rivne regions, spaces for 2,000 people are ready. By the end of the month, at least 30,000 places for long-term accommodation, including for low-mobility individuals, will be prepared across 15 regions and Kyiv.

The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development is also developing solutions to reformat temporary accommodation facilities, with proposals to be presented soon.

Logistics have been enhanced: Ukrzaliznytsia has added carriages from Pavlohrad and Dnipro to Kyiv and Lviv, transporting over 500 people in August alone.

“Evacuation continues daily. We are preparing infrastructure for winter, setting up new accommodation sites, and working with communities and volunteers. I thank everyone helping people during this challenging phase,” concluded Oleksii Kuleba.
