On September 18, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Zahorodniuk held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Marius Janukonis.

Minister of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the unwavering course of Ukraine towards joining the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, stressed the importance of Ukrainian-Lithuanian cooperation in the defense sphere and expressed gratitude to the people of the Republic of Lithuania for their support.

“Lithuania is our close ally, friend and reliable partner who has helped us and defended Ukraine’s interests since the first days of the Russian aggression. We appreciate the support provided by the Republic of Lithuania,” said Andrii Zahorodniuk.

During the meeting, the parties discussed relevant issues of cooperation between the defense agencies of both countries. Special attention was paid to the advisory assistance in the reform of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, cooperation in the field of military education, as well as the rehabilitation of Ukrainian servicemen in Lithuania.

Among other things, the use of Lithuania’s experience in organizing and conducting territorial defense activities was discussed.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania Marius Janukonis thanked the Minister of Defense of Ukraine for the meeting, expressed his hope for expanding defense cooperation between the countries and invited the Minister of Defense of Ukraine to visit the Republic of Lithuania.
