The tariffs for the heating services in Ukrainian cities and townships are within a direct responsibility of local authorities, and in particular city mayors, because the vast majority of boiler houses belongs to the municipal administrations and the latter are responsible for their condition. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.

"The boiler houses in Ukraine belong 99% to municipal administrations and local authorities. But I’ll provide an example. The city of Kamyanets-Podilsky. In there 1 Gcal cost UAH 1,200. And this is the achievement of the mayor but not the Government. And in Smila 1 Gcal costs UAH 2,500. The price of gas is equal, but the price of heating services varies", said Volodymyr Groysman.

And this, according to the PM, also provokes failures in payments. However, he again reiterated: if a family has objective reasons for the lack of funds to pay for the utilities, the Government has the ability to protect such families.
