  • Vaccination against COVID-19 will begin in February, says the Prime Minister

    By the end of January, Ukraine expects the first supply of 100-200 thousand doses of COVAX vaccines to begin immediate first-line vaccination. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on January 25 on the air of the program "Svoboda Slova" (Freedom of Speech – ed.).

    The Head of Government stressed that Ukraine had joined the COVAX international initiative simultaneously with all European and world countries. All the contracts required for this were concluded on time.

    "With the COVAX initiative, we cooperate on the same terms and rules as most European countries," said Denys Shmyhal.

    The Prime Minister also stressed that there would be a sufficient amount of vaccines for everyone wishing this year. According to him, there is a preliminary agreement on more than 30 million doses, there are already signed contracts and those awaiting signing.

    "All stages of vaccination in Ukraine will be observed in accordance with the National Plan, the entire infrastructure will be prepared. There is a plan to form 500 mobile teams and more than 4,000 relevant vaccination points. The infrastructure this year will be provided for everyone interested and those who should be vaccinated in the first place," the Head of Government stressed.

    Denys Shmyhal reminded that the National Plan provides for 5 stages of free vaccination, in particular for doctors, the military, all risk groups. He stressed that vaccination will be voluntary.

    "In parallel with free vaccination, vaccination on a commercial basis will take place. This is not prohibited if the vaccine is certified and licensed in the country," stressed the Prime Minister.
