Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, posted 22 June 2022 21:25

The Verkhovna Rada has passed two important resolutions that eliminate inconsistencies and in fact launch two reform anti-doping laws. This was announced by the Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Huttsait on Facebook.

These are the laws "On anti-doping activities in sports" and "On amendments to Article 52 of the Law of Ukraine "On Physical Culture and Sports" regarding the activities of the National Laboratory of Anti-Doping Control."

Both were adopted on January 26, 2022, but needed clarification, which was developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in synergy with experts from the World Anti-Doping Agency.

According to Vadym Huttsait, these laws are critical to fulfill the European integration obligations in sports, in particular, the harmonization of national anti-doping legislation with the World Anti-Doping Code and the launch of the National Anti-Doping Control Laboratory.

"The entry into force of these laws on the eve of the European Union summit is of particular importance. With concrete decisions, we demonstrate to our partners the responsibility for the assumed commitments, readiness for reforms and full integration with the EU," Vadym Huttsait wrote.
