Ukraine launches Unified State Platform for Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation (AKIS)

The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture has presented the Unified State Platform for Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation AKIS (Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System)—a digital tool designed to make it easier and faster for farmers to access knowledge, practical solutions, modern technologies, and professional support.

The AKIS platform was created as a single point of access to information useful for agricultural producers. It brings together practical recommendations for daily work, training materials, analytics, as well as opportunities for consultations and professional exchange of experience. In essence, it is a digital assistant for farmers, helping them find the right solutions without unnecessary searching or wasting time.

AKIS is one of the key elements of the European approach to the development of the agricultural sector. In EU countries, such systems have already proven their effectiveness. Now, this tool has also been introduced in Ukraine.

The platform brings together farmers, scientists, advisors, educational institutions, businesses, and Government agencies into a single collaborative system. This shortens the path from a new development or recommendation to its practical application in the field, on the farm, or in processing.

“The launch of AKIS is a step toward a modern model of the agricultural sector, where knowledge and innovation become a real working tool for farmers. We want cutting-edge solutions and practical experience to be accessible, understandable, and free of unnecessary barriers. This is particularly important for small and medium-sized producers, who especially need easy access to expert support. “The platform already contains more than 260 publications—analytics, practical advice, and scientific research—that will help farmers work more efficiently and confidently,” noted Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.

According to him, Ukraine is building a space for mutual success. Thanks to AKIS, domestic producers are integrating cutting-edge knowledge and standards while scaling Ukrainian agricultural technologies to the international level. This exchange of experience underscores Ukraine’s agency: we not only adopt best practices but also offer the world our effective solutions in the agricultural sector.

A distinct advantage of AKIS is its integration with the State Agrarian Register (SAR). Users who are already registered there do not need to re-register: they can access the platform directly from their personal account in SAR without any additional registration and use its features.

The platform also features a forum for communication between agricultural producers, scientists, and representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture. This allows users not only to receive information but also to ask questions, discuss practical challenges, and find solutions within a professional environment.

The AKIS platform is designed to be a practical tool for agricultural producers: to work more efficiently, save resources, and stay informed about new opportunities for support and development. At the same time, the launch of the platform marks a transition to a modern model for the agricultural sector, where knowledge becomes a resource for development while innovation forms the basis of competitiveness. This is precisely why AKIS is important not only for farmers but also for Ukraine’s economy as a whole.

The Ukrainian platform is being developed in accordance with European AKIS operating standards as part of the EU project “Support to Align Ukrainian Legislation, Policies, and Institutions with the EU Acquis in the Field of Agricultural and Rural Development” (EU4SmallFarms).
