Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture holds meetings with agricultural associations on implementing EU legislative requirements

Under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Denys Bashlyk, a series of meetings were held with representatives of agricultural associations to discuss implementing EU legislative requirements under negotiation Chapter 11, “Agriculture and Rural Development”.

On 26 August, the Deputy Minister met with representatives of Ukraine’s poultry and meat industry associations. On 27 August, discussions were held with representatives of the oilseed, grain, fruit and vegetable, and hop-growing sectors.

The main topic was the readiness of Ukraine’s agricultural sector for the official EU accession screening.

Denys Bashlyk stressed the importance of considering the specifics of each agricultural sector when aligning with EU legislation.

“When adapting Ukrainian legislation to EU requirements, we must consider the interests of our farmers, who operate under extremely challenging conditions, especially in frontline areas. Agricultural producers face two major challenges: the war and climate change. We must convey our preferences to the EU to make the transition to European standards as smooth as possible for our sector,” emphasised Denys Bashlyk.

Association representatives provided feedback and proposals, which were noted for consideration.
