The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the Action Plan for 2018 for the implementation of the Strategy for Communicating European Integration for 2018-2021.

The document was drafted by the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine in pursuance of the relevant CMU resolution. The main objectives included in the plan are to increase the awareness of Ukrainian citizens about the opportunities existing in the framework of cooperation with the EU and to encourage citizens into communication. This is, in particular, concerns the organization and holding of a large-scale information campaign, the publication of the results of the implementation of the provisions of the Association Agreement and other measures. This year's plan also envisages for the establishment of a Coordination Council for the implementation of the Strategy for Communicating European Integration for 2018-2021.

"This is an important step in promoting the reforms on our way towards European integration. For the first time we introduce a mechanism of sociological snapshot of the Ukrainian population's awareness of the Government's efforts towards integration of Ukraine with the European Union," said Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ukraine, commenting on the adoption of the document.

She also emphasized that in recent years information campaigns on the communication of European integration issues had been carried out with the financial support of foreign partners, and often the Ukrainian side was involved in the development of messages and tasks purely technically. "This year we are planning our own campaigns on the content and objectives of European integration," added the Vice Prime Minister.

"According to a survey in March by KIIS, 60% of the citizens lack information on the country's strategic course. We allocate budgetary funds, we invest in the awareness of Ukrainians about the development strategies of the State. This is a big change," added Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze. According to her, budget financing of information campaigns on European integration is a responsible and positive step in the right direction, despite the fact that the funds planned in the budget are far from the real needs to ensure powerful informing by the State.

She also emphasized that the full implementation of the Strategy for Communicating European Integration will become another important element in protecting of "the information territory" of the State.

"We must invest in a deeper and better understanding by the citizens of the benefits of the free world, the opportunities that are emerging for business, academics, students and cultural representatives within the framework of programs related to the implementation of European integration of Ukraine," summed up the Vice Prime Minister.
