Wednesday, October 21, at its regular meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported a series of decisions aimed at solving the problems of Kherson region.
"Both I and the President, as well as members of our Government’s team, have recently visited the Kherson region, and as a result of these visits, the most pressing problems and ways to solve them were formed. Today we are adopting 6 decisions that will make it possible to settle some of these issues," the Head of Government said.
Inter alia, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved an action plan for the implementation of the Irrigation and Drainage Strategy until 2030 in Ukraine.
"We start with the audit and inventory of the entire irrigation system and we are doing it this year. So that next season we do not lift our hands in dismay, as it used to be with previous governments. We have an action plan, the political will and necessary attention to the problem. We are waiting for effective implementation from both local authorities and relevant ministries," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Government also approved the Procedure and conditions for granting a subvention from the state budget to the regional budget of Kherson region for the construction of an overpass along Admiral Senyavin Avenue - Zalaegerszeg Street in Kherson.
"Yesterday, the President said that dozens of objects of critical infrastructure have been unfinished since independence. And this has been going on for decades. This overpass is one such facility, but we will complete it next year. Therefore, I will ask the regional administration to ensure control over the speed and quality of work," the Prime Minister stressed.
In addition, in order to implement a project to build a service hub at the Chongar checkpoint, the Government adopted a decision transferring the checkpoint to the ownership of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.
"That will allow to speed up all the work on the construction and management, in particular through business support. We have reiterated for several times, and the President set such a task that all checkpoints on the administrative border with Crimea and in Donbas are equipped in line with the highest standards," said Denys Shmyhal.
Representatives of Kherson Regional State Administration were present during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via video-conferencing. Denys Shmyhal expressed confidence that such a practice of comprehensive resolving regional issues would become a tradition at Government meetings.
