The Government has established a Fund responsible for providing social assistance and compensation to victims of crimes of violence. Therefore, Ukraine joins global practice.

It is planned that the victims or close relatives will be paid compensation by the State for the loss of earnings and for the costs of medical treatment and medical services. The reimbursement will be carried out by the regional centers for secondary legal assistance provision. The amount will be at least 40% of the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons on the day of appeal.

The sources of filling the Fund will be the proceeds from penalties in the form of fines and corrective labor; the funds from court fees in the case of the guilty verdict and the like.

According to statistics, more than 24,000 people are victims of violent crimes in 2018 alone.
