  • Government approves bill ratifying Technical and Financial Cooperation Agreement with Estonia

    On May 26, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported the submission to the Verkhovna Rada of the draft Law of Ukraine "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Estonia on Technical and Financial Cooperation".

    "The Republic of Estonia is a valuable partner for Ukraine. Our countries can already boast with a successful experience of cooperation in digital projects. Therefore, our desire to expand the horizons of cooperation in the field of education, sports and public administration reform is quite natural," said Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.

    The official also stressed that the ratification of the Agreement will ensure the implementation of domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Estonia on Technical and Financial Cooperation thereby facilitating the intensification of bilateral cooperation in relevant sector and increase in volumes of international technical and financial resources in the shape of the following:

    - know-how, workshops, consultations, supply of equipment and materials, assistance related to the introduction of new technologies necessary for the successful implementation of projects;

    - grants to finance the supply of goods, equipment and materials, works and services necessary for the successful implementation of projects.

    "Ratification of the Agreement on Technical and Financial Cooperation can create a favorable climate for further implementation of joint projects between Ukraine and Estonia as well as consolidate the ambitious  intentions for cooperation. I believe that this will be an important step for both countries allowing us to achieve progress together," added Olha Stefanishyna.

    Background

    The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Jüri Ratas signed an Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Estonia on Technical and Financial Cooperation on November 27, 2020.

    The Agreement applies to all technical and financial assistance programs and projects implemented in Ukraine and financed in whole or in part by the Republic of Estonia.
