The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at a today’s meeting, approved a draft law on ratification of the Agreement on Financing of the Danube Transnational Programme. The entry into force of the Danube Transnational Programme, after ratification by Parliament, will provide financing to the tune of 5 million euros for the development of the Ukrainian part of the Danube Region, in particular Chernivtsi, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattya regions. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko.
The Vice Prime Minister stressed that the main cooperation lines under the aforesaid agreement comprise development of innovations and infrastructure , implementation of energy efficiency, ecology, effective governance.
"The Danube Transnational Programme is another European integration tool and opportunities for the development of communities in the Danube Region, including mountain areas. The programme offers opportunities for business development, job creation, competitiveness and quality of service provision in the frontier regions of Ukraine", the Vice Prime Minister said.
The development of cross-border cooperation is one of the key priorities of the state regional policy being implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine and by the State Strategy of Regional Development for the period until 2020.
Recall that in 2016 the Government of Ukraine approved the State Program for the Development of Cross-Border Cooperation for 2016-2020, the development of cooperation in the Danube Region was outlined as a promising direction.
