
Government has approved the National Targeted Scientific and Technical Space Program of Ukraine for 2021-2025
On September 29, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has supported the draft Law of Ukraine "On Approval of the National Targeted Scientific and Technical Space Program of Ukraine for 2021-2025", which was developed by the Ministry of Strategic Industries together with the State Space Agency of Ukraine (SSAU) in cooperation with all stakeholders.
The program provides for the implementation of six objectives:
- conducting space activities in the interests of national security and defense;
- creation of space observation systems of the Earth and their components;
- introduction of space technologies in the services market;
- creation of rocket and space technology;
- basic and applied scientific research in the field of space activities;
- legal, scientific-methodical and information support of the Program activities.
The Program will be financed from the funds provided in the state budget, as well as other sources not prohibited by law. The estimated amount of required funds for 2021-2025 makes up UAH 40.78 billion, including UAH 15.76 billion from the state budget.
"However, according to preliminary estimates, indirect revenues in the field of economy and additional benefits in the field of national security, public administration and ecology for this period will amount to more than UAH 16 billion," Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleg Uruskyi.
The Minister of Strategic Industries stressed that further adoption of the National Targeted Scientific and Technical Space Program of Ukraine for 2021-2025 will contribute to the systematic and consistent development of the Ukrainian space industry, the corporatization of which had been recently approved by the Government.
