Today at the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Government adopted an order "On approval of the draft letter of the Government of Ukraine to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on joining the Recommendation of the Council for Economic Cooperation and Development on Comprehensive Verification of the Constructive Interaction with Stakeholders in the Mining Sector".

In 2017, the Government of Ukraine acceded to the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. The OECD Guidelines is an integral part of the Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises. They are the most complete set of recommendations for responsible business practices.

The OECD Council Recommendation on OECD Guidelines for Comprehensive Verification of Constructive Interaction with Stakeholders in the Mining Sector was approved by the Council on 13 July 2016. Although not binding, the Recommendation reflects the general position and political commitments of OECD members and non-OECD members.

“In order to implement this Recommendation, the National Contact Point for the Promotion of Recommendations (Guidelines) for Multinational Enterprises under the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises under the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is already disseminating the Guidelines on its website, processing inquiries and facilitating solving problems arising as a result of the implementation of the OECD Guidelines in specific cases. Accession to the Recommendation will confirm the desire of the Government of Ukraine to implement best practices of interaction with stakeholders in the extractive sector.

Thus, the adopted order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approves the draft letter of the Government of Ukraine to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on joining the Recommendation of the Council of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on the Guidelines of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on on Comprehensive Verification of the Constructive Interaction with Stakeholders in the Mining Sector,” said the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleh Nemchinov.
