The readiness of the entire infrastructure of Ukraine for the heating season amounts to 99%. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated in an introductory statement at the Government meeting on October 6. He added that this issue covers the repair of heating networks and boiler-houses, as well as the preparation of schools, hospitals, kindergartens and residential buildings.

"Almost 19 billion cubic meters of gas have been accumulated in gas storage facilities, and this amount will be sufficient for the winter. The Government sets a clear task under the management of Naftogaz and Ukrgazvydobuvannya - to increase domestic gas production. All the tools for that were provided: areas for extraction were allocated, licenses issued, production sharing agreements concluded. Increasing such production is a matter of national security," the PM stressed.

Apart from that, Denys Shmyhal reminded that according to the Memorandum signed last week, the city heads undertook not to increase tariffs for heating and hot water for citizens. Naftogaz, for its part, will supply gas to district heating companies at a price fourfold lower than that on the European market.

"The Government is restructuring debts and compensating local authorities for the difference in tariffs. The whole country will be with heating. I want to warn some gas supply companies: we will rigidly thwart any attempts to disconnect social infrastructure from gas or profit off the situation," the Prime Minister summed up.
