On December 24, a meeting chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was held to support Ukrainian producers of bread and other socially important food products.

According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the Government is developing mechanisms to support bakers to ensure uninterrupted production and stable prices for social kinds of bread.

"Over the last year, the price of gas in Europe has increased more than 5 times. Accordingly, prices for natural gas have grown in Ukraine. Under such circumstances, bread producers are considering raising prices. In this case, the state must protect both the Ukrainian baker and the consumer. At the initiative of the President of Ukraine, the Government has prepared several mechanisms of appropriate support and plans to introduce them in the near future," stressed Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine planned to apply support mechanisms to balance world prices for natural gas. In addition, the Government intends to introduce limits on markup for a number of social and food products, which will also allow to curb rising prices. Appropriate consultations are currently underway with business representatives.
