  • Government support programmes: banks approved UAH 8 billion in soft loans to strengthen energy independence

    Between 1 June and 30 September, banks received 2,484 applications from businesses for loans to install energy equipment to enhance energy independence totalling UAH 54.8 billion. Applications worth UAH 7.9 billion were approved.

    This is evidenced by the results of a survey of banks by the National Bank of Ukraine.

    The volume of loans actually disbursed for the energy needs of legal entities totalled UAH 2 billion. In particular, in September, 514 applications worth UAH 8.4 billion were submitted, 1,081 applications worth UAH 2.7 billion were approved, and 220 loans totalling UAH 1.3 billion were granted.

    Funds were provided for the purchase and installation of gas-piston cogeneration units, purchase of diesel and petrol generators, construction of solar power plants, etc. The projects are being financed in 21 regions of the country.

    Banks are also lending to households. In September, 1,100 loans totalling UAH 133 million were granted to individuals. The gross portfolio of loans related to the energy needs of individuals currently stands at UAH 204 million.
