Government approves procedure for meeting targets on reuse and recycling of construction and demolition waste

On 5 February, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the resolution “On Approval of the Procedure for Meeting Targets Regarding Preparation of Construction and Demolition Waste for Reuse, Recycling, Other Material Recovery, Including Backfilling”.
The procedure establishes uniform rules for meeting targets in the management of construction and demolition waste, transparent and clear requirements for processing and reuse of such waste, and introduces a systematic approach to reporting and monitoring results in this area.
The procedure provides that:
- it applies to all enterprises, regardless of ownership form, that generate construction and demolition waste and submit waste declarations;
- indicators for reuse, recycling, and other material recovery of such waste will be calculated annually;
- monitoring of target achievement includes data collection and analysis to assess waste management status and will be conducted annually.
The Government has adopted another regulatory act aimed at developing the circular economy and reducing technogenic pressure on the environment.
