Government approves Regulation for PlayCity operation

The PlayCity, established to replace the ineffective Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries to regulate the gambling sector, is one step closer to launching its activities. The Government approved the Regulation on the state agency's activities - how it will work and what it will do.

Among the main objectives of PlayCity are as follows:

• Control over the gambling market through online monitoring
• Transparent issuance of licenses
• Revealing and closing illegal casinos
• Fines for companies for violating license conditions
• Supervision of state lotteries
• Protection of players' rights and reduction of gambling addiction risks
• Maintaining registers, publishing open data, and annual reporting on the agency's work.

The next stage of PlayCity launch is the approval of the agency structure and staff. After that, the head will form a team in the main directions. The PlayCity will officially start working when the Government decides to launch it.

It's worth mentio that the main goal of PlayCity is to make the gambling and lottery market transparent, controlled and legal. This will help the state to receive up to UAH 10 billion in additional taxes annually, to be used for the needs of the Defense Forces.
