The Agreement to establish a joint Reconstruction Investment Fund with the United States is intended not only to enhance Ukraine's defense today, but also to create a platform for long-term partnership with the world's largest economy. This was emphasized by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 2.

He noted that the signing of the Agreement was a historic achievement that fits into a large-scale program of building a strong Ukraine, ensuring peace and security.

"It is important for Ukraine not just to end this war, but to achieve a just peace that will follow. This means large-scale reconstruction based on the "Build Back Better" Principle. This means EU membership. It means a strong economy based on innovation and an advanced defense industry," the Head of Government emphasized.

He is convinced that a strong economy combined with strategic partnerships with the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Western world will be the best guarantee of security.

In addition, Denys Shmyhal emphasized that the Agreement will help to ensure more reliable protection of the country today thanks to American air defense systems and modern weapons.

“This deal is also a message to the kremlin regime that the United States remains with Ukraine and willing to support us,” the Prime Minister said.

He also added that the current objective was to continue and finalize the legal and diplomatic work and sign the technical agreements that will create the necessary tools for partnering with the United States.
