Government approves new rules for railway and station operations based on air threat levels

The Government has approved new rules governing railway and station operations depending on the level of air threat. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi.

Under a yellow-level threat, trains run on schedule, with normal passenger boarding and disembarkation. Under a red-level threat, boarding and train departures are suspended, while people move to shelters.

"It's important to note that, depending on the situation on the ground, Ukrainian Railways will be able to promptly restrict movement and disperse rolling stock and passengers to avoid crowding," the Prime Minister said.

Sergii Koretskyi emphasized that Ukrainian Railways, together with regional military administrations and local communities, must expand access to shelters at stations. Information on threat levels will be received automatically, allowing decisions to be made instantly. Relevant instructions have been issued to the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Displaced Persons, and the State Emergency Service.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police will also step up security at stations and support evacuation efforts.

"Regions need to adapt urban transport schedules to train movements, especially at night, and speed up the installation of mobile shelters to the maximum possible so people can take cover if danger arises," the Prime Minister said.
