The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has earmarked UAH 180.7 million from the state budget reserve fund to help released prisoners and the families of those currently deprived of their personal liberty by the aggressor state. The Government made the decision at a meeting on 17 November 2023.
"Ukraine does not leave people deprived of their personal freedom by the aggressor and their families alone in trouble. Of course, the most important task, to which all efforts are directed, is to return home those who are still in captivity. And it is being solved. At the same time, the Government is supporting the families of the prisoners and providing social support to those citizens who have been released," said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
The funds allocated by the Government will be transferred to the Ministry for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories and will be targeted to people who have been deprived of their personal liberty as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine or their family members.
In particular, UAH 159.7 million of these funds will be allocated for annual state financial assistance provided to family members of prisoners of war for each year of their captivity and UAH 21 million for a one-time state financial assistance received after release from captivity.
