The Government has adopted a number of decisions that will help accelerate the restoration of communities in Ukraine. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 7 March.
In particular, according to the Head of Government, an additional UAH 5 billion has been allocated for recovery projects in 12 regions. The money will be used to implement 150 projects under a joint programme with the European Investment Bank to repair and build hospitals, schools, kindergartens, restore water supply as well as energy efficiency.
"These are projects that will significantly improve the lives of our communities and citizens," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Government has also provided UAH 5.2 billion for a pilot project for the comprehensive restoration of five settlements: Borodianka in Kyiv region, Trostianets in Sumy region, Tsyrkuny in Kharkiv region, Posad-Pokrovske in Kherson region and Yahidne in Chernihiv region.
The Prime Minister noted that more than UAH 5 billion would be allocated for major repairs and construction of new housing in these communities, as well as resources to restore and modernise heat, gas and water supply. In addition, the reconstruction of transport and social infrastructure is also envisaged.
"The restoration of these settlements is being carried out in a comprehensive manner and is based on the principle of Build Back Better," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision that will allow the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA) to transfer more than UAH 1.8 billion for the restoration of Ukraine.
"As we promised, the confiscated funds of the sanctioned persons will be used to rebuild our country," the Head of Government stressed.
Denys Shmyhal emphasised that the funding was distributed within the framework of the public investment reform, which means that the projects are highly beneficial to communities and are ready for implementation.
The Prime Minister also noted that the eVidnovlennia programme was operating effectively. According to him, 85,000 families have received and are receiving funds to repair damaged housing under this programme, and almost 15,000 certificates have been issued for the purchase of new housing to replace that destroyed by russian terrorists. In addition, 3,500 IDP families have already obtained certificates for the purchase of new housing, and more than a thousand families have already purchased new homes.
