At a meeting on 30 April, the Government allocated an additional UAH 15.5 billion for the purchase of drones. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“The funds will go to State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection, which is in charge of procurement. With the funds allocated today, 300,000 drones will be delivered to our Security and Defence Forces,” the Head of Government said.

He added that this was in addition to the UAH 43.3 billion already allocated for drones this year.

The Prime Minister also noted that the Brave1 defence technology cluster had been in operation for a year. More than 1,600 developments in 12 areas have been registered.

“These include drones, electronic warfare, robotic systems and the use of artificial intelligence. The state helps the most promising developers to implement their projects. We have provided 186 grants worth more than UAH 120 million for research and development and production scale-up,” the Head of Government said.

According to Denys Shmyhal, there are ambitious but realistic plans for this year. In the state budget, the Government has earmarked UAH 1.5 billion for grants to defence-tech developers.
