Creating safe conditions for education remains a priority for the Government. This was emphasised by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during an inspection of the construction and reconstruction of shelters in educational institutions in Kharkiv region.
Denys Shmyhal and the Government team visited the construction of a protective structure in one of the lyceums in Kharkiv region, where almost five hundred students study.
The Head of Government noted that this shelter had a dual purpose and in peacetime it could be used for extracurricular activities for children, master classes, seminars and trainings.
During the working visit, the officials inspected the shelter of another lyceum, which was equipped with the support of the Belgian government.
“This educational institution has a youth centre with social, educational and psychological services. I commended the centre’s staff for their work with children,” the Prime Minister said.
Denys Shmyhal also inspected the construction of a shelter for a pre-school education institution. This building will have 4 main classrooms, a medical centre, a dining room, and sanitary rooms. The kindergarten itself will be equipped with two centralised power sources and a generator. According to the Head of Government, this will ensure its full operation in any situation.
“The construction and reconstruction of shelters in educational institutions is a priority for us, as it is one of the important safety factors in the educational process. In total, a record UAH 2.7 billion has been allocated to Kharkiv region for this purpose,” the Prime Minister stressed.
