Government postpones deadline for mandatory use of payment terminals by entrepreneurs

On 29 December, the Government adopted a resolution postponing the deadlines for the mandatory use of POS terminals, mobile applications, and QR codes for cashless payments with consumers. The use of payment terminals will become mandatory three months after the termination or cancellation of martial law.

“This decision is about supporting small businesses during martial law. The postponement gives Group 1 sole proprietors time to prepare for cashless payments and accept payment for goods or services across all trading platforms,” said Oleksandr Tsybort, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalisation.

The postponement will also help entrepreneurs with minimal activity volumes, a limited list of permitted business types, and no right to hire employees to avoid additional financial and administrative burdens during martial law.

In particular, once the mandatory use of payment terminals for entrepreneurs is introduced, small businesses will have the option to choose a convenient method of cashless payments: POS terminals, mobile applications, or QR codes.
