Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko outlined the Government’s new employment policy during an Employment Week.

The Government has decided to launch a pilot project that strengthens the link between vocational training and specific employer demand. Its goal is to help defense industry enterprises and other priority sectors train the necessary specialists more quickly, in line with their needs.

“Ukraine already has a system in place to support training through vouchers and retraining. Now, the Government is aligning state support more closely with specific employer needs and is offering two forms of support: grants for individuals and compensation for employers who invest in workforce training,” said Yulia Svyrydenko.

In 2026, state support will amount to up to UAH 30,000 for obtaining full professional qualifications and up to UAH 15,000 for partial qualifications. The same maximum amounts will apply to compensation for employers’ employee training costs.

The program is funded by the Unemployment Social Insurance Fund.

“The dynamic defense manufacturing sector and other priority industries, such as energy, need qualified specialists who strengthen our ability to expand domestic production. Ukrainians are already offering the world unique defense solutions. We must become a nation of engineers to scale these achievements,” emphasized the Head of Government.

According to her, these changes are part of the Government’s new employment policy. “We are shaping the labor market in line with the current demands and needs of the economy,” the Prime Minister concluded.
