Government adopts a series of decisions to ensure the protection of children's rights

The Cabinet of Ministers has passed several resolutions aimed at protecting children's rights.

"We continue thematic Government meetings. This time, we focused on policies to guarantee children's rights," said Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Among the key decisions are as follows:

1. Launch of the Family-Type Home project for orphans and children deprived of parental care, which will operate in 12 regions of Ukraine with co-financing from the state and communities.

"Often, it is most challenging to find new families for teenagers, children with disabilities, or large sibling groups. Therefore, a transitional space will now be created for such children, bridging the gap between institutional care and independent living, as close as possible to family environment," noted Yulia Svyrydenko.

2. Implementation of the "money follows the child" principle.

The Government is increasing payments to foster parents and adoptive parents in family-type children's homes and foster families.

3. Expanded support for children returned from occupation or forced deportation by russia.

Assistance in the amount of UAH 50,000 will now be available not only to children under 18 but also to young people aged 18-23 who were minors at the time of deportation.

"This is an important step for their adaptation and reintegration at home in Ukraine," emphasized the Prime Minister.

4. Free legal aid.

Orphans and children deprived of parental care aged 18-23 will be eligible to receive free secondary legal assistance.

"We aim to ensure that all children have the state's protection and support in legal matters," stressed Yulia Svyrydenko.

5. Regulation of the use of electronic medical certificates for adopters.

- The Government has approved a unified medical examination procedure for all individuals wishing to adopt a child, adopting a relevant resolution.

- The Government has proposed introducing electronic medical certificates for adoption (a draft law to amend the Civil Procedure Code has been approved and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine).
